“There is Power in Folded Hands”
SGCompany is finally inviting you to a summer concert at St. Petri Church.
Before the pandemic put everything on hold, the choir had started a tradition of revisiting cherished “album classics” – popular and beloved CD releases – and performing concert versions of the entire albums. It began with Carola & Per Erik Hallin’s “Live i Rättviks kyrka” and continued with Carola’s “Blott en dag” album. These were incredibly beautiful albums that also translated into powerful and wonderful concert experiences with Stavanger Gospel Company. The churches were packed, and the feedback was fantastic.
This year, it is time for Sigvart Dagsland’s magnificent album “Det er makt i de foldede hender” from 1995. It is a collection of 12 beloved hymns, presented in beautiful and powerful arrangements for soloist, choir, piano/organ, trumpet, and guitar.
Stavanger Gospel Company aims to recreate the atmosphere, with the same lineup and arrangements. However, they will also fully utilize the choir’s expression to an even greater extent. It will be an evocative evening at St. Petri, ranging from minimalist and delicate moments to grand and majestic ones.
